30,000 in Copenhagen to Protest Global Warming

Copenhagen Protesters30,000 protesters have gathered in Copenhagen, Denmark in order to demonstrate against this summit and this number is only an estimate. According to Danish television representatives, the number could very well be greater than 100,000.

Leaders from across the globe are discussing important environmental issues and since this summit comes shortly after controversial news regarding the fact that information which does not support the idea that the climate changes we are observing are man-made has been censored, it has been expected that certain people would end up protesting.

However, the corporate media claims that these protesters are all pushing for our world’s leaders to bring in climate change initiatives and more laws to curb global warming. This is simply not true. Many protesters were in Copenhagen protesting that global warming is a hoax and they were there to make their voice heard against world leaders, more laws and taxes that will definitely be placed on the people of the world if this international treaty is signed.

The problem is represented by the fact that protesters have not managed to keep things peaceful and as a result, law enforcement approaches are definitely necessary. About 300 young people who were dressed in black and had their faces covered have been arrested after a series of disturbing incidents. These protests came after Gordon Brown’s decision to support poorer countries which cannot afford to cut their emissions with £1.5 billion.

While there were many who protested against the treaty, there were just as many anti-capitalists and environmentalists that had “taken over” Copenhagen and at this point, it seems that everyone is aggressively trying to push a their agenda.

Law enforcement officers are trying to keep everything under control and if necessary, they will have to resort to methods such as arrests again. Will the “climategate” scandal have negative consequences when it comes to the results of the Danish climate summit or will everything go as initially planned?
