With our economy in such a sad state of affairs, it’s not difficult to understand why things have gotten this bad. The heavy blanket of deception created by human survival instincts has served to weaken a great portion of our countries less fortunate individuals. While material comforts and wealth may provide people with a highly enjoyable lifestyle, the number of working class people getting robbed has reached new heights. 

It’s never been a safe world, but our economic crisis has thrown your average, overweight, physically lacking person into facing a more serious peril. The reality of increasing home invasions and robberies. For people not lucky enough to live in a small town or living environment with a strong police force, self preservation methods must be activated. Heavier locks, guard dogs, guns, the whole bit. It all comes down to a lack of understanding about life itself. Less fortunate individuals are easily led astray, tricked, and distracted from themselves.

Believe it! Gangs, organized crime, and lives in disarray. It’s happening all around us but nobody wants to look at it. Weekend robbing sprees, thugs with nothing to lose, gangsters, drugs. No doubt about it, crime is on the rise. It’s up to you to take appropriate measures in protecting yourself not just with a lock and key, but physically as well. 

Don’t make associations with people you don’t know. Most often, new relationships are based on somebody else’s survival instincts. This can get less physically capable people in a lot of trouble. A dog is a very good way to keep out intruders. Often times, a capable and protective pet is enough to keep away thieves and violent people. 

Keep your life straight too. Crimes usually happen to people whose lives are in a state of chaos. Thieves pick up on these signals and will mark you as a possible target. Worry makes things worse, but action and improvement always helps to keep the negative elements of society out of your life, and your home.

The dead man’s body was found in the doorway. He was shot before he was able to gain entry into the home. The older home owner, armed with a .45 caliber handgun, had a dialogue with the thief before opening fire. Here’s the conversation

Homeowner: “I said, ‘Get the hell out of my house,”

Robber: “I’m going to beat your ass and then I’m gonna kill you,”

The would be murderer took two forward steps and the homeowner opened fire. Luckily, there was enough space between them to allow for a clean shot. Police who investigated the self defense killing say it’s a classic example of a criminal attempt to prey on the elderly. 

“I took a human life,” said the man, who refused to provide his name. “I’m still dealing with that.”

The gunshot wound went through the robbers chest, quickly bringing him to the ground. The resident’s door was locked with only a chain, easily kicked open by the thief. The resident who shot the man is disabled, requiring substantial amounts of pain medication.

This may have been the motivation behind the break in, experts speculate.

More and more home owners are leaning towards keeping their finances in banks and other more protected areas. The disabled man’s pain medication is just one example of a valuable item acting as bait for a thief. The less items you have in your home that thieves want, the safer you will be. Police are still investigating the break in, hoping to gain more valuable insight into the most common behavior patterns of criminals.
